ABOUT MICHAEL FRANTI AND SPEARHEAD

For over two decades, the Bay Area born Michael Franti has been bringing our world exceptionally powerful, deeply felt music. Franti first formed the punk band The Beatnigs while studying at the University of San Francisco, and later the far more hip hop-inflected The Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy. In the mid-Nineties, Franti created Spearhead. Frantis music has always reflected his status as a musical citizen of the world. The Sound Of Sunshine — the inspired and inspiring new album by Michael Franti  Spearhead — is a kind of musical sun shower, a bright, beautiful and often buoyant song cycle created to bring all kinds of listeners a sense of hope during rough and rainy times for so many in our world. Arguably the most cohesive, romantic and life-affirming album that Franti and Spearhead have ever made, The Sound Of Sunshine reflects the fact that, as Franti puts it, with time, you get a better sense who you are and how to put together all your musical passions into your own sound. – michaelfranti.com

HF has been a godsend! There’s great family activities all over the place, but we used to find out about them too late or not at all. With HF, the weekly update keeps our busy family connected. Even though we’re on the outer eastern edge of the Valley, we do travel!

Hilltown Families is the first place I look to find fun things to do with my preschool age daughter during the week and on weekends. I’ve found everything from puppet shows to concerts to community festivals on this site. I think it’s the most comprehensive calender of family-friendly events in the area.

I’ve been using Hilltown Families to identify summer camps in the area for cousins in Spain, and love the mix of EVERYTHING you could want to know about supporting family in the Valley. Stumbled on your Michael Franti concert link on a gorgeous Amherst day, and it reminded me how lucky we are to live here!

I was introduced to Hilltown Families as soon as I moved to the valley, over 2 years ago. I have read parenting blogs by local writers, found out where to get local maple syrup, and been updated about the many happenings for families in the area.
