Every week I spend some time with my little brother (a 13 year old boy from Northampton) and we always check Hilltown Families to see what’s going on. We’ve learned a lot about what’s going on in our community and have benefited immensely.” – Dennis Caraher (Northampton, MA)

Our Place for HomeSchoolers is designed to “unplug” young learners by bringing them into direct contact with the creatures, geologies, hydrologies and infrastructures of the Nonotuck biome and the Westfield River watershed. During a 6 hour session, they roam the valley and the hilltowns, investigating natural and cultural history with all of their senses. An excellent educational enhancement for home schoolers, Our Place allows them to 1) experience first-hand the subjects they study in books and 2) use their background knowledge and critical thinking skills to comprehend, and share their perceptions of, what they are experiencing. If you know a learner who needs some time and space to “think outside,” Our Place is here.
