The Fifth Annual “Night of Music” fundraiser for the Crane Memorial Scholarship will be held on Friday, May 25th at 7 p.m. in the Gateway Performing Arts Center in Huntington, MA. Students, faculty, alumni and staff will perform a variety of music including blues, folk and rock and roll. Admission is $7.00 for adults and $5.00 for students; tickets will be available at the door.

Scheduled performers are:

  • And of course it would not be the Crane Memorial Concert without special guests “The Suprettes”, an indescribable and unpredictable ensemble featuring surprise faculty members.

In all, performances include members of numerous Gateway classes ranging from 1970 to 2010.

“Education was everything in my house when we were growing up,” explained Gateway High School mathematics teacher Tim Crane. “My father was a physics teacher, principal, and served on the school committee. My mother was a stay-at-home mom who taught religious education classes, was a den mother, a scout leader, and served on the PTO. They both donated every year to their alma-maters, while raising a family of four children on one income.”

Crane said that when Francis and Marion Crane died, he and his siblings decided to honor them with this scholarship. Francis Crane spent 13 years of his career as Principal of the former Huntington High School.

Anyone unable to attend who would still like to contribute can send donations made payable to the Crane Memorial Scholarship Fund to the Westfield River Credit Union, 1 Park Place, Westfield, MA.
