Easter Events in Western MA, 2016

Community events that celebrate Easter take place over the next few week.

During Easter many towns host egg hunts for their residents. Check our list of Easter events for an egg hunt nearest you, along with Easter craft opportunities, brunch and Easter Bunny appearances.

Saturday, March 12

In Easthampton from 9am-12pm, the Easthampton Community Center needs your help to stuff 18,000 eggs for their Egg Hunt (on March 19)! See how many eggs you can stuff. What are the odds your child will find one of the eggs she assembled? It depends how many she stuffs and how many she finds! 413-527-5240. 12 Clark St, (FREE)

Saturday, March 19

Join neighbors at Daley Field in Easthampton at 10:00 sharp as bunny announces the start of the egg hunt! There are 18,000 eggs to be collected and hundreds of prize eggs. Grand prizes include two bicycles, and gift certificates to local businesses. Children under ten are welcome to participate in this community event and feel like Charlie looking for the golden ticket! There will also be a section designed for children under four. In Agawam from 10am to noon parents can come to Heritage Woods Senior Living to get their child’s picture taken with the Easter Bunny, free of charge! Call 413-789-8332 to RSVP so that there will be enough sweet treats for everyone. 462 Main Street. (FREE)

In Lenox, MA from 10am-12pm or 1pm-3pm, people of all ages are invited to learn about Slavic egg decorating and decorate their own Easter eggs. Egg decorating is an important part of the cultures of Poland, Croatia, Ukraine, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. People across nations and cultures have found eggs to be an aesthetically pleasing decorative object, symbolizing the possibility and hope of new life. Egg decorating also differs in technique across cultures. In this egg decorating workshop at Ventfort Hall Mansion you will learn specifically about Slavic methods through demonstration and instruction. In Shelburne Falls at 10:30am is an epic Easter Egg Hunt with 3000 eggs! There will be three separate fields filled with prize eggs and a few special prizes, too.  Fun for the whole family. Organized by The Franklin County Rotary Club and hosted by Trinity Church. 17 Severance Street. (FREE)

In Belchertown the Easter egg hunt begins at 10:30 at the Recreation Center. Each child will receive a basket of goodies and a balloon. You will be able to take pictures with the Easter Bunny. This event is very popular. Please register by calling 413-323-0419. 66 State St # 1. (>$)

In Hadley the egg hunt starts at 11am at Hadley Elementary School followed by a carnival! Celebrate Spring will food, crafts, games and a picture with the Easter Bunny. 413-584-5011. 21 River Dr. <b.(FREE)

In South Amherst from noon to 3pm, Atkins Farms’ Annual Easter Egg and Candy Hunt will include a free photo with the Easter bunny for those who bring two cans of food to donate to the local food bank. Friday, March 25

In Windsor Locks, CT families will be celebrating Easter at the New England Air Museum. From 11am to 1pm your kids can meet the Easter Bunny, participate in an egg hunt and engage in hands-on build and fly challenges! The Easter egg hunt is intended for children under 10. One adult is permitted to assist with children age 6 and younger. This Easter celebration is included in the regular price of museum admission. Saturday, March 26

In Greenfield WHAI/Bear Country Easter Egg Hunt at Greenfield Community College happens for the third year in a row! Please check the Bear County website in the coming days for more details. 413-774-4301. 1 College Dr. Greenfield, MA. (FREE)

Holyoke’s Easter celebration will include an egg hunt, great prizes, face painting, gift bags, pony rides, craft stations and a chance to meet the Easter Bunny! From 9:30am-11am at Holyoke Heritage State Park. Feel free to take a ride on the Merry Go Round and check out the Children’s Museum as well. There will be a staggered egg hunt schedule by age: Toddlers: 10:00 am; 6 and younger: 10:30 am; 7-9 years old 11:00 am; 10-12 years old: 11:30 am. 413-534-1723. 221 Appleton St. (>$)

In Ludlow at 11:30 there will be an Easter egg hunt at Whitney Park. Please call the Parks and Recreation Department to register. 413-583-8856. (FREE)

In Pittsfield, from 10:30am-11:30am kids nine and younger can hunt for eggs at Morningside Community School. 10:30am for 9 year olds, 10:40am for 7 & 8 year olds, 10:55am for 5 & 6 year olds, 11:10am for 4 year olds, 11:25am for 2 & 3 year olds. In South Hadley, make sure to wear your craziest, most festive Easter hat for the hat parade at 11 at Buttery Brook Park. Prizes will be awarded to wearers of the best hats! The Easter egg hunt will begin at 11:30. 413-538-5039. 123 Willimansett Street. (FREE)

In Stockbridge the Easter egg hunt begins at 11am, rain or shine, at the Stockbridge Library. Please bring a basket! 413-298-5501. 46 Main St. (FREE)

In West Springfield children ages 7 years and younger are invited to search for over 7,000 eggs at Mittineague Park. Between 9:45 and 10:30am, attendees will have a chance to meet the Easter Bunny and receive a candy treat. Bring your camera for pictures. The egg hunt will begin promptly at 10:30am and children will be divided into sections of color-coded age groups: yellow for 2 years and under, pink for 3 to 4 years and purple for 5 to 7 years old. In Wilbraham the Parks and Recreation Department will host an egg hunt from 10:00am to 11:30am at the Spec Pond Recreation Area. You can also get your child’s picture taken with the Easter bunny and play games. Bring a decorated Easter basket to enter the basket contest and win a prize. Saturday, April 2

In Otis at 10am: Easter egg hunt and games! Bring your own basket to Otis Town Hall and wear clothing appropriate for the outdoors. All ages welcome. Please call the recreation center and provide the name(s) of participants, age, address and phone number. 413-269-4541. 1 North Main Road. (FREE)
