Hilltown Families and the Flywheel Arts Collective are continuing the beloved ‘Saturday Morning Music Party’ fundraising series with a breakfast bash featuring food, dancing, and diversions for kids! Join us on Saturday, March 10th, from 10am-12noon at Flywheel Arts Collective in Easthampton’s old Town Hall!

As always, we’ll have a community breakfast of fresh pancakes, juice, and fruit. For this special Saturday only, we’ll be joined by talented young performers from Youthful Expressions Dance Studio, who will wow the audience with creative moves directed by Tylor Thomas of Springfield, MA. At Youthful Expressions, their motto is “Perform hard and stay humble,” so you know this will be a show you don’t want to miss! After the dancers from Youthful Expressions inspire us with their moves, all the kids (and parents!) can join DJ Youthelectronix for the “best ever dance party before noon.”

New Year’s Day Morning Music Party with Hilltown Families & Flywheel Arts Collective

On the first day of 2018, Hilltown Families and the Flywheel Arts Collective are continuing the beloved ‘Saturday Morning Dance Party’ series for another year with a breakfast bash featuring food, dancing, and diversions for kids!  This year we are starting off this family series on New Year’s Day, January 1, with a morning music party on from 10am-12noon in Easthampton, MA.

New Year’s Day Morning Music Party with Hilltown Families & Flywheel Arts Collective

On the first day of 2017, Hilltown Families and the Flywheel Arts Collective are continuing the beloved ‘Morning Music Party’ series for another year with a breakfast bash featuring food, dancing and diversions for kids!  This year we are starting off this family series on New Year’s Day with a morning music party on January 1 from 10am-12noon in Easthampton, MA.

During a free breakfast of fresh pancakes, juice, and fruit, a screening of Pancake Mountain will delight families. After the breakfast, Scotty Swan will present The Fuzznogginz Puppet Party! This will be a combination of a magic AND puppet show together in one big spectacular extravaganza! There will be lots of comedy, funny puppetry, and amazing magic combined with plenty of audience participation. Audience members are invited to come on stage to become puppeteers and learn how a puppet show works.

We hope that families from all over the Valley will attend.” He’s particularly proud of the “diverse programming” to be offered, which is anything but the rote kids’ fare.

“Getting families with children of all ages out and engaged in their community has it’s challenges in the winter,” says Hilltown Families Founder, Sienna Wildfield.  “A free morning music party with pancakes, and dancing is a recipe of fun for kids of all ages, and inviting for parents too!”

The Saturday Morning Music Party is now the SUNDAY Morning Music Party! We’ve moved the party to Sunday, February 10th at 10am. Come shake off your cabin fever with a pancake breakfast, screening of an 80s-era cult-classic kids’ TV show (can you guess which one?) and a dance party with DJ Youthelectronix! Oh, and did we mention… it’s FREE!!! Join Hilltown Families and Flywheel in Easthampton this Sunday!

Known to its neighbors and fans for boisterous concerts and a DIY aesthetic, the Flywheel Arts Collective of Easthampton may not immediately spring to mind when considering a family-friendly activity for the kids. But with the announcement of the ‘Saturday Morning Music Party,’ a breakfast bash featuring dancing, performances and diversions for kids (to take place during February and March), Flywheel offers just that.

Partnering with Hilltown Families, Flywheel kicks off the first of two installments of the Saturday Morning Music Party at 10am on February 9th, Sunday, February 10th, 2013 at their headquarters in the town hall building at 43 Main Street in Easthampton, MA. This event is free and open to families and kids of all ages. The second event in the series takes place on March 16.

Following breakfast, the Feb. 9 Feb. 10 event features a screening of a classic episode of Pee Wee’s Playhouse, an 80s-era, cult-classic kids’ television show. After the show, kids join DJ Youthelectronix for the best ever dance party before noon.

Dj Youthelectronix, a.k.a. Jeremy Smith, a veteran Flywheel volunteer, led the effort to organize the Saturday Morning Music Party series in 2012. Driven to recreate the success of similar Saturday morning activities at Flywheel’s previous location, Smith says, “We started the Saturday Morning Music Party to provide families with an affordable, fun activity that was enjoyable for adults as well as kids. We hope that families from all over the Valley will attend.” He’s particularly proud of the “diverse programming” to be offered, which is anything but the rote kids’ fare.

The March 16 event features a pancake breakfast at 10 followed by a live performance of Shiprock and Anchordog, a mixed media performance of theater and video set to music in the Americana vein about the story of two dog heroes and their adventures through forests, oceans and dreamscapes. The March 16th event costs $10 per family to cover band expenses.

Kids Can Learn Songs and Sing with the Expandable Brass Band

Kids are encourage to join the band an hour before the show for free opportunity to learn songs with the band.

Hilltown Families and Spare the Rock presents a FREE show with The Expandable Brass Band on Saturday, April 2nd as part of the No Nap Happy Hour Series at Flywheel Arts Collective in Easthampton, MA at 1pm.

Families are encouraged to arrive early (12Noon) for an opportunity to learn songs to perform with the band!

The Expandable Brass Band is a local Western Massachusetts street band formed by people who want to spread the joy of playing in the street both for the fun of it and in support of others working on important social issues, especially in their community.

The band features a playful and lively mix of brass and percussion instruments that are sure to intrigue and engage kids and parents. Personal instruments are welcome but not required since noisemakers will be available.  The Flywheel Arts Collective is located in the Old Town Hall at 43 Main St., Easthampton, MA.

ABOUT BILL HARLEY

A two-time Grammy award winning artist, Bill Harley uses song and story to paint a vibrant picture of growing up, parenting and modern family life. Poignant and hilarious, his work spans the generation gap, reminds us of our common humanity and challenges us to be our very best selves.

A prolific author and recording artist, Bill is also a regular commentator for NPR’s All Things Considered and featured on PBS. Harley joined the National Storytelling Network’s Circle of Excellence in 2001 and tours nationwide as an author and performing artist.  Harley is the recipient of the 2010 lifetime achievement award from RI Council for the Humanities “for his use of music, song, and story in building community; promoting our common humanity; and encouraging lifelong learning, exploring and growing”.

Tickets can be purchased in advance online HERE and are $8 in advance/ $10 door. Family 4-pack: $25 in advance, $35 door.  Flywheel is located in the Easthampton Old Town Hall at 43 Main St.
